How are the dental implants placed?

First, a CT scan of your teeth is taken to allow the dentist to view the patient’s teeth and their bone structure. Then your dentist will consult with you to discuss and devise a treatment plan according to your needs. The remaining teeth may be pulled out during the procedure to create space for the implants depending on the type of implant you need.

1. Single implant

   If there is an infection at the site of implant placement, then first, the infection needs to be removed. Then new bone is grafted to achieve the density and thickness needed. Bone grafting for the upper arch requires 5 to 6 months, while for the lower arch, three months are needed. Once the bone acquires the right thickness and density, your dentist will place the implant. This implant will require months to fuse with your bone. After which, the abutment and crown are fixed onto the implant.

2. Full arch

   All the remaining teeth are pulled, and the infection is removed. After this, your dentist will smooth your bones to prepare them for the implants. The implants are then screwed into the bones, and the abutment and teeth are fixed onto them. This full-arch procedure is done in a day.
